Independence Day in Mexico

The next year, 2010, we will celebrate the Bicentennial of the Independence of Mexico, so it's a good excuse to go out from our state and know the most important places where the independence movement took place.
Traveling, you can learn everything about the city that you visit and it´s a good way to appreciate the cultural and natural heritage of our country.
You could visit the state of Hidalgo because here, you can find the most important places where Miguel Hidalgo, Allende, Aldama, Jiménez and their troop walked to arrive to the Unites States to buy arms and mount an offensive that never came.
In Hidalgo, you can visit some of the “Haciendas de Hidalgo” like: Hacienda Santa Maria Tecajete , Hacienda San Antonio Tochatlaco, Hacienda de Tetlapayac , Hacienda de Tepa Chico, Hacienda Chimalpa, Hacienda San Juan Hueyapan, etc.
The haciendas from the XVIII and XIX centuries give the impression of being enormous fortresses, with their high ells, battlements, towers, chapels and bell towers, their facades decorated with Talavera mosaic.
Also, you can camp, ride horses, fish, go cycling, etc in the Mountain Corridor. On the other hand, if you like the adventure, you can visit The Basaltic Prisms that is a big and beautiful waterfall that plunges over the prismatic formations.
Other important place to visit is the Archeological Zone of Tula, where you can find, the most legendary pre-Hispanic city and the seat of the Toltec culture. In this zone, you will see the famous Atlante pyramid where there are a lot of formidable stone column of almost 5 meters of height called Atlantes.
As you see, there are a lot of places that you can visit in Hidalgo, so decide yourself to visit this beautiful place and enjoy it with your family or friends.
